The American Cancer Society projects an estimated 1,658,370 new cancer cases diagnosed and 589,430 cancer deaths in the US in 2015. This number is projected to almost double to 3 million cases by 2050. Diagnosis and treatment of cancer is a major life stress for the person with cancer and heir families resulting in psychological as well as social difficulties. It is estimated 1/3 of people with cancer experience ongoing significant psychosocial distress.
